Tangerang, November 17, 2025 — Group 1 delivered an outstanding presentation on “Understanding News Writing” at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang (UMT), held in Building A, 7th floor, Room 6 (A.7.6). The presenters—Gibran, Bela, Haikal, Nabhan, and Daffa—explained the core principles of news writing and highlighted the importance of structured information in journalism.
During their presentation, Group 1 emphasized that professional news writing must follow the 5W+1H structure, which includes:
1. What – What event happened
2. Who – Who was involved
3. When – When the event took place
4. Where – Where it occurred
5. Why – Why it happened
6. How – How the event unfolded
These elements were presented as the essential foundation for producing clear, complete, and understandable news reports.
The group also elaborated on the inverted pyramid structure, explaining how the most important information should appear at the beginning of a news article. They provided examples of effective news leads and analyzed several news texts to demonstrate real-world applications of the principles they discussed.
The session was interactive, with classmates asking questions about identifying relevant facts, writing strong leads, and maintaining objectivity in news writing. The lecturer praised Group 1 for their preparedness, clarity, and well-organized delivery.
Through this presentation, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of proper news-writing techniques and apply them in future journalism assignments.
